Responsibilities:
- Manage and continuously optimize a global law firm panel; support RFPs and evaluation frameworks balancing quality/value/fit with price.
- Manage outside counsel agreements (rates, blended rates, volume discounts, AFAs like fixed fees/fee caps).
- Maintain rate benchmarking using market data for approvals, review cycles, and negotiation strategy.
- Coordinate outside counsel infrastructure (OCGs, engagement letters, billing policies, matter budgeting, staffing approvals) and serve as primary ops/billing relationship manager.
- Identify opportunities to shift work to lower-cost providers/ALSPs.
- Support legal budgeting and monthly forecasting; oversee TeamConnect eBilling/matter management; coordinate spend reporting/dashboards.
- Develop SOPs/playbooks/training; implement billing compliance controls (LEDES, timekeeper rate approvals, billing guideline validations, invoice review).
- Automate manual billing/reporting workflows.
- Develop KPIs/scorecards and present analytics/recommendations for spend governance.

Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s + 8 yrs OR Master’s + 6 yrs OR PhD.
- 7+ years progressive legal ops/legal finance/in-house legal billing with outside counsel management and/or e-billing in a large complex organization.
- Expertise in rate negotiation, AFA structuring, billing guideline enforcement.
- Proficiency with enterprise e-billing/matter platforms (TeamConnect or equivalent); experience with rate benchmarking/market data.
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills (Legal, Finance, Procurement, IT); influence without authority; communication skills.
- Experience in global pharmaceutical/biotech/regulated industry.
- Familiarity with CLOC/other Legal Ops frameworks; experience reviewing OCGs/managing law firm panels.

Benefits/Compensation (as stated): Salary range $157,590–$203,940; may include discretionary bonus, stock-based incentives, paid time off, and medical/dental/vision/life insurance.
