Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead efforts with business leaders to identify, explore, and develop AI/ML solutions to enable access to computational tools and data across Amgen and improve patient outcomes.
- Use cloud services to collect, store, preprocess, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources.
- Collaborate with ML, data science, and research scientists to select appropriate ML models and algorithms.
- Architect and guide implementation of data and ML pipelines for development and deployment.
- Facilitate ML model deployment to production, including monitoring/maintenance, and set metrics for accuracy and drift.
- Define evaluation/validation strategies; train/test models; analyze and resolve errors and biases.
- Lead standards, processes, and best practices across the ML solution lifecycle.
- Mentor junior ML engineers and data scientists. May telecommute.

Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Bioengineering, or related field, plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or a data scientist-related occupation.
- 4 years experience with: Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, TensorFlow, PyTorch); supervised/unsupervised learning (Random Forest, ensemble models, deep learning); Git; Docker/Kubernetes; AWS or GCP; Databricks and SageMaker; regression modeling, hypothesis testing, Bayesian methods, forecasting, time-series; building ETL pipelines for large/high-dimensional datasets (healthcare data structures/types); CI/CD tools and GitLab; developing/fine-tuning NLP models (BERT, ALBERT, GPT, transformer-based models).
