Role Summary
Sr Financial Analyst, R&D BD & Alliances. The role supports the financial planning and analysis processes across multiple collaborations managed by the Alliances team. They prepare management analysis of actual vs benchmark results, cost share settlements, and financial analyses for partners, and implement process improvements for their direct area. They build R&D cost models to evaluate external BD opportunities and interact cross-functionally with Business Development & Alliances, Search & Evaluation, Corporate BD Finance, and various R&D functions to produce accurate, timely models. The role also interfaces with other R&D finance teams through LBE reporting, monthly BD/Alliances update meetings, and BD-related projects post deal execution.
Responsibilities
- Develops monthly, quarterly, and annual plans, LRP, and LBEs as required, using planning systems and incorporating review changes from financial and operating management.
- Operates independently to prepare variance analysis for each planning cycle and develops management reporting schedules for direct areas supported.
- Works directly with Accounting Shared Service on monthly close process and financial reporting to ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly actual results, including analysis and commentary for P&L variances. Understands monthly results and communicates issues vs. benchmark to businesses and partner companies supported to agree on resolution or action plan.
- Provides management of AbbVie and partner companies with clear insights into drivers of business and financial performance and risk; assesses business/market opportunities and informs/recommends prioritization decisions.
- Prepares R&D cost models for BD assessments, collaborating with cross functional contacts to collect model assumptions and cost estimates.
- Assists Finance Manager with Monthly BD Update meetings by developing relevant content and presenting to finance leadership.
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Leads ad hoc analysis, projects and processes improvements as needed.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Required: 4+ years of progressive and related experience in Finance and/or Accounting.
- Execute priorities established by Manager with speed and agility.
- Strong financial, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proficient Excel skills required.
- Knowledge of SAP and BPC a plus.
