Role Summary

The Senior Field Clinical Coordinator (Sr-FCC) educates patients on the safe and appropriate use of BioMarin marketed therapies using approved materials, supports Palynziq product initiation and ongoing therapy in collaboration with clinics and account teams, and does not provide medical advice. Based at home, Sr-FCCs support 50-60 PKU patients across a designated region.

Responsibilities

  • Work with assigned clinics, BioMarin field sales, and RareConnections personnel to ensure timely initiation of therapy and adherence activities for patients in RareConnections
  • Collaborate in an account team to move cases from referral to specialty pharmacy shipment to product start
  • Conduct patient-level education on BioMarin product information (safety, efficacy, dosing, administration, storage), disease state awareness, injection training, and clinic protocols
  • Provide in-person support for self-administration of FDA-approved BioMarin therapies as needed
  • Use motivational interviewing to empower patients, and provide reminders for medication, labs, and clinic appointments
  • Educate patients on disease and product administration technique to support safe and appropriate use
  • Participate in direct-to-patient educational events (3-4 times/year, weekends and weekdays)


  • Demonstrate leadership within the team and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
  • Generate and share best practices and contribute to strategy and implementation projects
  • Identify obstacles and trends and develop widely adopted solutions
  • Be a subject matter expert in PKU and contribute to regional/national trainings and education
  • Engage in peer leadership opportunities


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a patient educator
  • 4+ years of direct patient care experience in rare disease
  • Education as an allied health care professional
  • Bachelorโ€šร„รดs degree in Allied Health preferred or equivalent work experience
