Role Summary

The Senior Field Clinical Coordinator (Sr-FCC) educates patients on the safe and appropriate use of BioMarin marketed therapies using approved educational materials. The Sr-FCC supports Palynziq product initiation and ongoing therapy by collaborating with assigned clinics and the BioMarin account team. Sr-FCCs do not provide medical advice and are based remotely, supporting a defined geographic region and a patient load of 50-60 PKU patients.

Responsibilities

  • Work with assigned clinics, BioMarin field sales organization, and BioMarin RareConnections personnel to ensure timely initiation of therapy and adherence-related activities for patients enrolled in RareConnections.
  • Collaborate in an account team to move cases from referral to specialty pharmacy shipment to product start.
  • Conduct patient-level education for new starts, including product information, disease state awareness, injection training, and clinic-specific protocols.
  • Provide in-person support for self-administration of FDA-approved BioMarin therapies as needed.
  • Use motivational interviewing to empower patients, provide reminders for medication, labs, and appointments at convenient times.
  • Conduct ongoing patient-level education on disease and product administration technique to support safe use of therapy.
  • Participate in direct-to-patient educational events to raise awareness of disease state and BioMarin therapies (typically 3–4 times per year, weekends and weekdays).

Qualifications

  • Required: Successful background check
  • Required: Valid driver’s license and driving record
  • Experience: 2+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a patient educator
  • Experience: 4+ years of direct patient care experience in rare disease
  • Education: Allied health care professional background; Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health is preferred or equivalent work experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health preferred or equivalent work experience
