Operations
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Provide automation support for operating areas and/or capital projects.
- Mentor process control team (design, controls philosophy, implementation, commissioning).
- Implement and coordinate process control work.
- Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan (Operational Excellence).
- Technically lead/oversee Site Area leads and System Integrator (Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, DCS Application Software, Test Specifications).
- Lead/participate in design reviews and DeltaV application software reviews; attend equipment/software FATs.
- Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning.
- Provide periodic status updates to Project Management.
- Devise functional requirements and process control strategies with Process Engineering.
- Perform DCS/SCADA software design, coding/configuration, and testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software).
- Design, tune, and troubleshoot control loops.
- Implement/support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians, integration for production data capture).
- Maintain validated state of site control systems (validation strategies and documentation).
- Support capital projects including new product introductions.
- Promote automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- Set/reinforce automation work-product rigor with automation/compliance consultants.
Basic Requirements:
- B.S. in Engineering; Automation Engineering experience (preferably Small Molecule API, Biologics and/or Cell Therapy).
- 2+ years biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing experience.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time (no visa sponsorship).
Additional Preferences:
- Experience with greenfield manufacturing commissioning/qualification using SCADA, DCS, PLC, MES (e.g., DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade).
- Experience driving organizational-level decisions.
