Sr Engineer, Automation

Role: Senior Automation Engineer responsible for automation and control systems at Emergent's GMP vaccine manufacturing site in Canton, MA. Main objectives include ensuring system reliability, compliance, lifecycle management, and driving continuous improvement of automation supporting clinical and commercial vaccine production. Responsibilities encompass ownership of process control systems (PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS), validation in line with GMP standards, troubleshooting, deviation investigation, and supporting process and technology transfer initiatives. The role also involves managing automation aspects of capital projects, developing standards, and serving as the SME during audits and inspections. Qualifications: Bachelor's in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Biochemical Engineering; 8+ years of experience in GMP-regulated biotech/pharma automation, with vaccine or Drug Substance experience preferred. Skills include hands-on programming and troubleshooting of PLCs/HMIs (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred), knowledge of GxP, validation, data integrity, and automation system lifecycle management.
