Role Summary
Sr Director - Tech at Lilly Manufacturing & Quality leads IT strategy and operations for a new site, shaping the Digital agenda and transformation for manufacturing facilities. Reports to the M&Q IT VP and Site Head, overseeing the IT landscape during site startup and ongoing operations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure site operational readiness from IT perspective, including startup and integration of IT systems (infrastructure, warehouse management & logistics, data historian, real-time floor tracking, digital plant, laboratory information management, CAPA systems, access security, building monitoring, risk management, MES).
- Provide IT site functional leadership as a member of the Site Leadership Team.
- Develop and implement the site IT strategic and business plan; benchmark and adapt roadmaps; collaborate cross-functionally to establish and implement site IT roadmap; maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead staffing to meet site and functional goals; coach and develop team; cultivate Lilly values and operational excellence; lead talent assessment and succession planning; support site recruiting to build IT capability.
- Ensure the IT organization is functionally strong, solution-focused, and capable of prioritization and barrier removal; oversee technical activities and promote knowledge sharing and education.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Required: 10+ years of leadership in Pharma IT with a focus on API manufacturing; 10+ years of expertise in MES, data integration, and advanced analytics.
- Preferred: Strong experience with MES implementations, data integration, and advanced analytics; flexibility to operate across the US; willingness to travel up to 50% and be based at one of Lilly’s API manufacturing sites.

- Deep technical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and IT/OT footprint; ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Additional Requirements
- Role is on-site, Monday through Friday; flexibility for production schedules, shutdowns, and occasional extended hours.
- Based at one of Lilly’s API manufacturing sites in the US (Indianapolis, IN; Lebanon, IN; Houston, TX; North Carolina; Virginia) with travel to other global Lilly sites as required.
