Main Purpose and Objectives of Position
The Senior Director, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental), is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE programs and systems for the Concord Plant manufacturing site. Leads productivity and development of HSE employees, resolves health/safety/environmental issues, and ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Provides HSE oversight for manufacturing, environmental control, utilities and waste operations, lab facilities, emergency response, and administrative facilities. Provides functional HSE leadership, direction, and governance; connects the site HSE team to Corporate HSE; and supports regulatory inspection systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the HSE Management System to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and Lilly Global standards.
- Define and support site HSE priorities/roadmap; develop and manage HSE business initiatives, HSE Plan, and HSE metrics.
- Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are continually met.
- Benchmark best practices across the network and externally.
- Develop future management and technical leadership for site and network/global roles.
- Escalate critical environmental, health, and safety issues as appropriate.
Requirements
- Leadership of HSE programs and HSE management systems in a manufacturing setting (e.g., pharmaceutical, specialty chemical, food and beverage).
- Experience implementing and managing environmental compliance programs.
- Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies on EHS requirements.
- Bachelorβs degree (or equivalent) and 10β15 years managing HSE teams/programs.
- Ability to partner with Site Leadership, align with corporate objectives, and communicate across all organization levels.
- Experience developing high-performing teams and building safe team cultures.
