Main Purpose and Objectives
The Senior Director HSE is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE programs and systems at the Lilly manufacturing site, overseeing manufacturing, labs, utilities, waste, emergency response, and administrative areas to ensure compliance with global and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Startup and Startup Phase (2029–2030):
- Lead operational readiness and startup collaboratively and inclusively.
- Build an HSE organization (capability, capacity, and culture) for safe, compliant, efficient operations.
- Define HSE priorities/roadmap and implement HSE systems using internal expertise and external best practices.
- Establish and lead the site HSE Lead Team and embed safety/environmental focus.
- Guide design, startup planning, and contractor safety with Global Facilities Delivery.
- Develop and scale HSE capabilities for full GMP manufacturing, including environmental and PSM.
- Partner with corporate/global teams and lead site execution of strategic initiatives.
Post Startup:
- Own the HSE Management System; ensure compliance with regulations and Lilly Global standards.
- Define/manage HSE priorities, roadmap, initiatives, metrics, and the HSE Plan.
- Ensure reporting and recordkeeping compliance, including Title V.
- Benchmark best practices across Lilly and the industry.
- Develop future HSE leadership; escalate critical issues to site/corporate leadership.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- 5+ years leading HSE teams and programs (preferably with PSM and API manufacturing experience).

Additional Preferences
- Proven HSE leadership/management systems in manufacturing, including PSM.
- Environmental compliance program experience, including Title V reporting/recordkeeping.
- Ability to engage regulatory agencies on EHS matters.
- Strong cross-level relationship building; collaboration with Site Leadership Team.
- Track record developing high-performing teams and fostering safety culture.
