Position Description:
The Sr. Director - Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) will provide technical, strategic, and administrative leadership to the HSE function for the Concord site. Responsibilities include ensuring regulatory / site / corporate HSE compliance, development of HSE systems/processes/programs, development of the HSE staff, enabling operational excellence, and establishing an injury-free workplace. The Sr. Director - HSE will be a member of the Concord site lead team.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements
- Establish an injury-free workplace
- Develop and implement the HSE management system
- Achieve environmental goals
- Lead permitting, regulatory compliance, and relationships with HSE regulators
- Partner with Corporate HSE function
- Collaborate with HSE peers at other Lilly Manufacturing sites
- Establish local employee health services
- Conduct strategic and business planning; develop site HSE Roadmap
- Serve as a lead team member with cross-functional influence
- Develop the aspect and safety team
- Develop/establish/sustain systems, processes, and programs to support transition from construction to start-up
- Partner with construction and design-build firms for smooth handoff to start-up
- Provide leadership and technical support for all HSE activities at the Concord site
- Lead development, coordination, and execution of site Emergency Response plan
- Support HSE event, CAPA, and change control processes; apply hierarchy of controls to reduce risk
- Use knowledge of severe injury risk to minimize potential events and increase site awareness
- Provide Industrial Hygiene, industrial safety, and environmental support for the site

Requirements (Education, Experience, Training):
- Bachelor of Science in Scientific, Engineering, or HSE discipline
- HSE experience including manufacturing
- Experience with CAPA system for HSE changes and deviations

- Strong HSE regulatory knowledge
- Demonstrated technical leadership skills
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Demonstrated people leadership experience
- Green sites start-up experience
- GMP operational experience
