Head of Trade and Patient Services

Location: Warren, NJ | Salary Range: 250–310k

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the U.S. trade channel strategy, including specialty pharmacy (SP) network architecture, specialty distributor (SD) relationships, and limited distribution model (LDM) framework appropriate for a biologics patch product.
- Lead contracting negotiations with specialty pharmacies and hub service providers; structure agreements to optimize patient access and commercial performance.
- Partner with Finance, Legal, and Market Access to develop and manage gross-to-net (GTN) assumptions, chargeback processes, returns policy, and inventory management practices.
- Establish trade analytics capabilities (sell-in/sell-through reporting, inventory tracking, demand forecasting) in partnership with Supply Chain.
- Partner with Supply Chain to maintain 3PL relationships and oversee handling requirements specific to patch-based biologic products.
- Build and oversee the end-to-end patient support program, including affordability (co-pay assistance, free drug, PAP), benefits investigation, prior authorization support, and appeals navigation.
- Select, contract, and manage a hub services vendor; establish KPIs, SLAs, and escalation protocols.
- Develop patient onboarding, adherence, and re-engagement programs with digital touchpoints and caregiver education.
- Align patient services program design with payer coverage policies to minimize access barriers.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs and Regulatory to ensure compliant, current patient services materials.
- Build, lead, and develop a Field Reimbursement Manager (FRM) team; hire, onboard, coach, and manage performance.
- Define team structure, territories, and coverage models to align with commercial strategy.
- Lead U.S. launch readiness for trade/patient services: timelines, operational milestones, readiness reviews, and governance/compliance frameworks.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 15+ years biotech/pharma Market Access experience with prior Trade & Patient Services leadership.

Required/Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Direct line team leadership experience.
- Trade/channel operations experience (e.g., customer relations, contract negotiations, distribution channel policy development).
- Deep understanding of U.S. access environment (distributors, pharmacies, reimbursement/co-pay support, payer coverage/pricing, patient support programs, field reimbursement).
- Working knowledge of prescription drug distribution and pharmaceutical supply chain.
- Experience in pediatric, allergy/immunology, or biologics/patch categories; late-stage/launch-stage experience.
- Direct experience building specialty pharmacy networks and limited distribution models.
- Hands-on hub design/vendor management/patient support program experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. specialty reimbursement, GTN accounting, and payer landscape.
- Reimbursement methodology knowledge for commercial and government payers.
- Track record launching specialty/rare disease products in the U.S.
- Comfort in an ambiguous, fast-paced, pre-commercial environment; ability to travel.
