Role: Senior Director of Process Engineering within Takeda’s Synthetic Molecule Process Development (SMPD), leading the global process engineering team to develop scalable, cost-effective manufacturing processes for small molecule pharmaceuticals from pre-IND to commercial stages. Responsibilities: define strategic vision for process engineering, oversee process design, optimization, and technology transfer; manage global teams, talent development, and organizational capability; ensure alignment with pipeline and organizational goals; lead process development in reactions, crystallization, particle engineering, and unit operations; establish external collaborations and represent Takeda externally; contribute to regulatory filings and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and risk standards. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (25+ years), Master’s (21+ years), or PhD (15+ years) with extensive experience in small molecule process development, scale-up, and manufacturing; proven leadership in GMP environments, technology transfer, and regulatory contributions; expertise in process analytical technologies, QbD, continuous manufacturing, and complex unit operations; strong communication, strategic vision, and cross-functional collaboration skills. High-Value: small molecule (chemical synthesis), pre-IND to commercial, process development, technology transfer, regulatory filings (IND/NDA/MAA), GMP compliance, global leadership, external partnership engagement.
