Role Summary
Senior Director, Product Security – Lead the strategy and program for global product security, including countering threats to Amgen products, coordinating incident response, and collaborating across internal and external partners to safeguard products, patients, and company interests.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for Product Security scope, ensuring protection of Amgen’s global portfolio of products from counterfeiting, diversion, and illicit marketing.
- Organize and lead cross-functional steering committees with stakeholders from Global Security, Operations, Supply Chain, LAW, and Corporate Audit.
- Define and operationalize strategies for threat monitoring, incident reporting and response, counterfeit deterrence and authentication, and enforcement protocols.
- Manage the GS Product Security Team, including a Sr. Manager, an Analyst for Product Security Intelligence, and a Program Manager for Supply Chain Security.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures governing Product Security activities.
- Design, implement, and maintain Product Security systems, processes, and tools.
- Leverage the Global Security Operations Center to support key aspects of the Product Security program.
- Monitor virtual and physical markets for suspicious activities involving Amgen products, in collaboration with the GS Intel Team.
- Investigate suspected or confirmed illicit activities affecting Amgen products, internally or with law enforcement and authorities.
- Establish and manage an annual Product Security operating budget.
- Provide leadership with metrics, KPIs, and reporting resources on threats to Amgen products.
- Create and execute strategies to educate and raise awareness of Product Security issues internally and externally.
- Participate in industry groups and government or working groups to represent Amgen’s interests.
- Facilitate for-cause and pre-contract security audits of vendors and partners.
- Conduct site risk and vulnerability assessments and develop actionable response plans.
- Identify, assess, and implement mitigation strategies to counter threats to APIs, materials, finished products, and returns; coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
- Coordinate with other directorates within Global Security and align efforts regionally and functionally.
- Hire and manage contract workers and consultants, including RFPs, contracting, leadership, and review of work and invoices.
- Conduct internal and external investigations as required.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree and 5 years of leadership experience in private sector global/corporate supply chain security, or
- Master’s degree and 8 years of leadership experience in private sector global/corporate supply chain security, or
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of leadership experience in private sector global/corporate supply chain security.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory law enforcement and/or military experience desired but not required.
- Solid working knowledge of GxP (GMP, GDP, etc.) environments.
- At least 5 years of direct people management or leadership experience.
- Strong proficiency with security systems and ability to optimize their effectiveness.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Requires approximately 20% travel, including overnight and weekend commitments.
- Professional Security Certifications such as CPP or PSP are preferred but not required.

Education
