Sr. Director - Global OSD, Technical Operations, Science & Innovation

Role: Senior Director, Global Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) Manufacturing Operations, leading a strategic and operational team supporting AstraZeneca’s on-market OSD portfolio. Responsibilities: oversee manufacturing performance, manage and develop a diverse technical team, shape regional strategy, and implement science and innovation initiatives with emphasis on material science, pharmaceutics, and new technology integration. Drive continuous improvement, leverage data/AI/analytics for performance enhancement, ensure robust product/process support, and maintain a best-in-class technical support model. Responsible for budget, resource allocation, and building future-ready organization aligned with operational excellence and compliance. Requirements: extensive pharma experience in drug development, manufacturing, and commercialization, specifically within oral solid dosage forms; strong knowledge of SHE, cGMP, Lean principles; proven project leadership within matrix environments; excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills. Preferred: experience leading large, multi-site or global manufacturing teams; deployment of digital/AI solutions; background in material science or pharmaceutics; track record of technology integration and team development; experience managing substantial budgets and capital planning. The role is based in Newark, US, with frequent in-office presence in Mt. Vernon, adopting a hybrid model (3 days/week). The position offers a competitive salary range ($209,559–$314,339 USD) plus a bonus, long-term incentives, and comprehensive benefits.
