Role Summary

Sr Director Digital Transformation Tax/Treasury at Lilly. The role leads modernization of global tax and treasury functions, bridging technology with finance to drive digital transformation, automation, AI-driven forecasting, and intelligent workflows. It supports global, federal, state tax, global treasury, pension and benefits management, insurance and risk management, and business development financial support, with upward exposure to senior finance leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a forward-looking digital strategy for global tax and treasury aligned with broader finance transformation goals.
  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies (AI/ML, APIs, blockchain, intelligent automation, data lakes) to enhance agility, accuracy, and value.
  • Contribute to enterprise initiatives such as digital cash flow forecasting, FX management, virtual account structures, bank connectivity modernization, AI-based risk modeling, data and market analysis, R&D credit analysis, US tax return enhancements, modernize quarterly year-end close, legal entity forecast and accounting tax processes, transfer pricing automation, and indirect tax automations.
  • Evaluate next-generation tools to accelerate preparation of tax and treasury reporting and operational requirements.
  • Own the roadmap for upgrades, automation, and process redesign across cash management, payments, FX, investments, debt, tax provision and tax return for global direct tax and transfer pricing.
  • Serve as liaison with Tech@Lilly, Advance Analytics and Data Sciences Architecture teams to prioritize and support tax and treasury needs.
  • Develop understanding of emerging tech trends and their potential impact on operations.
  • Identify and redesign legacy processes using RPA, workflow engines, Power BI, and Alteryx; drive real-time data integration, intelligent reconciliation, and analytics dashboards.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement; implement best practices for process optimization and automation to reduce risk and increase efficiency.
  • Partner with stakeholders in finance, tax, risk management, and treasury operations to align digital goals with business priorities; build external relationships with banks and fintech vendors; lead change management for adoption, training, and readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years in finance, treasury, finance transformation, or technology leadership roles.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Additional Preferences

  • Project management experience.
  • Treasury technology platforms experience.
  • Strong knowledge of core financial tech platforms (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Fabric, Excel, Power Suite).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead and influence under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, and Business Objects; willingness to adopt new tech.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn; proven track record of technology-driven transformation in finance or treasury; strategic thinking with methodical execution.

Education

  • Not specified beyond basics; MBA/CPA preferred.
