Job Summary
Leads a team of direct reports and typically manages other people leaders. May support multiple disease areas, a whole therapeutic area, or another significant area within Biostatistics. Contributes to short- and long-range Biostatistics strategies, plans, and infrastructure development across all Development functions and workstreams. Consults with executives to help envision future direction and prioritize investment and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication skills; engages, influences, and aligns stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Provides strong leadership and strategic thinking; translates complex scientific/business challenges into clear direction and actionable plans.
- Builds and leads high-performing, cross-functional teams (collaboration, accountability, shared purpose).
- Directs complex, multi-functional programs; integrates, interprets, and strategically uses internal/external data.
- Serves as trusted advisor to senior leadership; provides strategic input on departmental/enterprise initiatives.
- Develops deep subject-matter expertise in a therapeutic area/indication/technical discipline.
- Communicates scientific and statistical concepts with clarity and impact to internal and external audiences.
- Applies regulatory/statistical principles to align with regulatory expectations and support objectives.
- Collaborates across Development and other functions for alignment, decision-making, and execution.
- Oversees and directs a large, complex portfolio of programs/projects (potentially across multiple disease areas).
Basic Qualifications
- 14+ years with BS
- 12+ years with MS
- 12+ years with PhD/PharmD
- 6+ years with MD
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years (MS) or 12+ years (PhD) progressive biostatistics industry experience; proven impact advancing statistical analysis of biomedical data.
- Demonstrated leadership scaling biostatistics functions; strategic planning, governance, and oversight across large portfolios.
- Expert-level knowledge of biostatistics.
- Proven ability to define and operationalize short- and long-term biostatistics strategies.
