Role Summary

Sr. Director – Immunology Translational Medicine responsible for defining and executing translational strategies, leading biomarker discovery and collaborations to advance immunology programs from discovery through clinical development.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Translational strategies for multiple programs in parallel to enable the immunology portfolio.
  • Collaborate with program teams across discovery and clinical development.
  • Establish and maintain a laboratory supporting Translational Immunology aspects and prioritize work.
  • Initiate and drive publication strategy of biomarker research findings for conferences and journals.
  • Provide protocol and regulatory support for biomarker portions of Immunology clinical programs.
  • Identify internal and external resources to enable biomarker strategies with operations and clinical teams.
  • Support discovery by identifying and enabling novel targets/pathways through analysis of human biosamples.
  • Represent Translational Immunology in collaborations with external partners and help establish new partnerships.
  • Incorporate novel translational tools, precision medicine developments, companion diagnostics, and imaging techniques.
  • Provide strategic input on future Immunology investment prospects.
  • Prioritize work in a matrixed environment and meet ambitious goals and timelines.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop other scientists at Lilly.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.D. in Immunology or related life science field.
  • At least 6+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech or drug development experience supporting clinical programs with Translational Immunology assays and strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the drug discovery and development life cycle.

Skills

  • Leadership of diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with external academic, CRO, and biotech/pharma partnerships.
  • Interpersonal communication, team-building, and experience presenting in large forums.
  • Experience with high-content data and familiarity with computational methodologies and AI applications in translational medicine.
