Job Title: Senior Counsel (Legal Business Partner, Liver)
Location: Foster City, California
Reports to: Associate General Counsel, Liver
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support for the development and commercialization of Gilead’s Liver portfolio and other investigational assets.
- Work with internal clients including Commercial, Medical, Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Finance, and Regulatory; coordinate with Compliance, Privacy, US Pricing & Access, Competition Law, Regulatory, and other groups to support compliant commercialization.
- Provide legal input on US commercial strategies and tactics for promotional and educational activities, engagements with healthcare providers, patients, patient organizations, and other entities, including healthcare and commercial law/regulatory compliance.
- Provide legal training to field and home office personnel and external consultants, including large group public speaking.
- Take a proactive, problem-solving approach; collaborate with internal stakeholders; manage multiple issues/projects/initiatives across geographies and cultures; exercise mature and reliable judgment.
- Resolve challenging legal issues and deliver sound, clear legal advice in a business setting; build consensus among stakeholders while maintaining a compliant approach.
Basic Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent advanced degree
- 6+ years of experience practicing in a law firm or in-house legal department
Preferred Qualifications:
- JD from a nationally recognized law school
- Member in good standing of the State Bar of California (or ability to become Registered In-House Counsel or gain California Bar admission within 90 days)
- 6+ years providing legal counsel on laws/regulations relating to drugs or devices
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Resourceful, flexible; willing to take on a variety of tasks
- Detail-oriented and well-organized
- Willingness to travel periodically within the U.S.
