Role Summary
The Sr Automation Engineer will lead process improvement efforts using Operational Excellence methodologies, provide controls, software, and instrumentation technical support to process equipment, facilities, and utilities, and support the site with strong knowledge of electrical control systems, principles, and procedures. The role includes developing and implementing strategic control systems design specifications, sequence of operations, and root cause analyses, and participating in project design, commissioning, and performance improvement of automated equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead process improvement efforts through the use of Operational Excellence methodologies (Six Sigma & Lean).
- Provide controls, software, and instrumentation technical support to process equipment, facilities, and utilities.
- Support site by providing knowledge of electrical control systems, principles, and procedures.
- Develop and implement strategic efforts such as Control Systems Design Specifications, Sequence of Operations, PID controls, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Review, update, and approve Control Systems (Hardware, Software, DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI), equipment standards, and User Requirement Specifications (URS).
- Program PLC, DCS, and HMI applications for automated process equipment and environments using software including Foxboro, Siemens, Honeywell, Rockwell RSLogix, RSLogix 500 Series, Omron, Panelbuilder 32, RS View, Wonderware, and FactoryTalk ME.
- Manage projects related to design, commissioning, and performance improvement of automated equipment; participate in troubleshooting and plant shutdown activities.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques to propose improvements to automated systems.
- Provide technical support to Validation, Automation, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance with assessments, troubleshooting, and investigation reports; revise SOPs as required.
- Learn and comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality practices and procedures; operate in accordance with OSHA guidelines and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelorโs degree in Electrical, Industrial, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
- Required: 10โ15 years of related experience.
- Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment including the pharmaceutical industry.
