Sr. Associate Scientist β Obesity, Metabolism and Muscle Diseases Group
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end histological workflows for multiple tissue types (e.g., liver, heart, brain, muscle, adipose), including fixation, dehydration, clearing, embedding, and sectioning
- Perform routine and special histological staining based on program needs
- Conduct IHC and IF; develop, optimize, and validate protocols, antibody titrations, and antigen retrieval conditions
- Apply ISH techniques (ISH/RNAscope) for gene expression localization where required
- Perform image acquisition using scanning platforms and manage image data repositories
- Perform quantitative image analysis; develop and apply customized algorithms as needed
- Create high-quality figures and data summaries for internal reports, regulatory packages, and peer-reviewed publications
- Maintain and communicate a dynamic workload tracker; proactively flag capacity constraints or scheduling conflicts
Qualifications/Required:
- BS with 5+ years or MS with 2+ years relevant experience
- Proficiency in standard and special histochemical staining across multiple tissue types
- Demonstrated IHC/IF assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting experience
- Proficiency with whole-slide imaging systems and digital pathology image analysis software (e.g., HALO)
- Strong organizational/record-keeping and ability to manage competing stakeholder requests
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with in situ hybridization platforms (RNAscope, BaseScope, FISH)
