Role Summary
Sr. Associate Scientist – High-Throughput Molecular Biologist supports multiple vaccine programs by contributing to the design, cloning and validation of vaccine construct candidates. The role involves high-throughput molecular biology work, data collection and analysis, protocol development, and collaboration with a dynamic Pfizer Vaccines team in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and characterize/validate plasmid constructs using different molecular biology approaches.
- Utilize high-throughput instruments such as the Hamilton Microlab Star liquid handler, Celigo and/or Cytation 5 cytometers, Lunatic spectrophotometer and KingFisher Apex purification system.
- Collect and analyze data, establish new protocols, generate SOPs and support identification/troubleshooting of technical issues.
- Work independently to analyze, interpret and summarize experimental data.
- Regularly present data and progress to colleagues and senior management.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of freezer reagents and samples.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with the Pfizer Laboratory Notebook Policy.
Qualifications
- Must-Have: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Life Sciences or related discipline with 3+ years of experience in molecular biology techniques or Master’s degree in a related discipline with 0-2 years of experience.
- Experience in working with liquid handler workstations for high-throughput and/or screening purposes.
- Extensive molecular biology experience including cloning and Sanger sequencing analysis.
- Expertise using Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, macros and functions).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including GraphPad, Geneious or DNA Star.
- Strong attention to detail, multitasking skills, and ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent writing and communication skills.
