Sr. AI Science Lead

Role: Senior AI Science Lead responsible for directing large-scale AI research programs to advance drug discovery, focusing on foundation and generative models trained on Lilly’s chemical and biological data. Responsibilities: set scientific and technical strategy, lead development of AI architectures, design discovery learning cycles connecting models with experimental validation, and oversee high-performance computing implementations. Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams including AI scientists, engineers, chemists, and biologists; translate research breakthroughs into impactful scientific outcomes through close collaboration with Lilly Research Labs, engineering, and external partners like NVIDIA. Requirements: PhD in Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, Biology, or related field; 6+ years post-PhD industry or academic research experience leading large-scale AI programs; expertise in molecular design, genomics, and foundational AI models; proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and distributed computing; proven publication record. Preferred: experience with self-supervised learning, generative AI, and robust model evaluation. High-value specifics: focus on AI-driven drug discovery, computational chemistry, genomics, and biological data; based at Silicon Valley hub with hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite, 2 remote).
