Role Summary
Specimen Processing Supervisor – Schedule/Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 1:00 am-9:30 am. The primary responsibility is leading a local team in the pre-analytical processing of veterinary patient samples at our clinical diagnostic laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, assign, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing laboratory services in a clinical veterinary laboratory; ensure work quality and adherence to policies and procedures; provide training on proper laboratory test procedures and sample collection processes; perform technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
- Lead the team in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Operations associated with laboratory testing, equipment, facility, and materials.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff performing chemical, biological, and physical tests of laboratory samples.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing laboratory analysis and quality assurance program services.
- Identify resource needs, review with management, and allocate resources accordingly.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures; monitor work activities for compliance and propose improvements.
- Provide training on laboratory test procedures, sample collection, and lab methods to personnel; participate in staff selection; address deficiencies and implement discipline procedures.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; perform related duties as required.
- Perform more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate's degree or certification equivalent (MT/MLT); experience in a clinical laboratory setting with knowledge of high throughput hematology, chemistry, immunoassay, urinalysis, O&P/fecal, microbiology, histology and related analyzers/diagnostics.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree; supervisory experience.

Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate's degree or certification equivalent (MT/MLT) required.
