Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Rheumatology - Tampa, FL. This field-based role requires living within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The role involves executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center and adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct and all laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan using SMART objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease, product, and clinical/sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team and brand/sales leadership to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior; provides innovative ideas to maximize opportunities
  • Influences others and is regarded as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example in changing environments
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency
  • Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations within the territory; good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsibility to satisfy requirements
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Driving a personal auto or company car; valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
