Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Rheumatology, Northern New Jersey. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, drive sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and a customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance with patient at the center, adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and concerns to close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute call plans to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience; proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills.
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, with three (3)+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Strong business acumen; proficient with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; operates effectively in a matrix environment; adapts selling approach to customer style.
  • Proven track record of sales success and solid presentation skills; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Ability to contribute ideas for the organization and respond to changes; influences others and is seen as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team.
  • Preferred: proven sales performance in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; strong scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency verbally and in writing (where applicable).
  • Must satisfy Health Care Industry Representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all HCIR requirements; AbbVie provides resources to assist.
