Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Rheumatology – Manhattan North. This field-based role requires living within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, manage territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and place the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts while complying with all policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Stay informed about customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field teams and leadership.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/develop disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience; or five years of equivalent industry experience with at least three years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry and a high school diploma/GED.
  • Required: Proven track record of selling success and strong presentation skills; ability to identify customer behavior, adapt selling approaches, and contribute ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible coach; builds collaborative partnerships and demonstrates positive behaviors in challenging environments.
  • Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred: Proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Required: Satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; maintain good standing or eligibility for credentials.
  • Required: Ability to pass background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as required; operate in a matrix environment with strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Required: Driving a personal or company vehicle; valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and safe driving requirements.
