Role Summary
The Specialty Representative, Rheumatology is field-based and will manage a defined territory to execute brand strategy, drive sales performance, and build strong customer relationships. The role centers on influencing key health care providers, solving customer needs, and placing the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts while adhering to all laws and AbbVie policies. Candidates should reside within a reasonable distance from the primary city and be prepared to operate across multiple locations in the region.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans that maximize access and sales opportunities through strategic coverage and frequency.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, and product knowledge; share insights with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and engage disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required
- Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; ability to adapt to customer style and respond to changes
- Influences others and is viewed as a credible resource; builds collaborative partnerships within the district and matrix teams
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to assume increased responsibility at district/region levels; develops sales strategies from findings
- Preferred: Proven track record of sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency
- Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
- Understand and adapt to HCIR credentialing requirements, including background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and licenses as required
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge; strong business acumen; able to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Must be able to drive a personal auto or company vehicle; valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
