Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Rheumatology - Madison, WI. This field-based role executes brand strategy and tactics, drives sales performance, and effectively manages the assigned territory and targeted accounts. You will build strong customer relationships, solve customer needs, and place the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts while complying with all policies and regulations. The geography includes multiple cities and requires residence within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed expectations.
- Create pre-call plans with SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to optimize strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/maintain disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field, or relevant equivalent industry experience.
- Required: In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED accepted as applicable.
- Required: Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills; ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and respond to changes.
- Required: Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships and demonstrates positive behaviors in changing environments.
- Required: Documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; ability to leverage findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: Proven track record in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Required: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and maintain credentials; you must be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; ability to drive a personal vehicle or company car/vehicle.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

- HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; compliance with background checks, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as required.
