Specialty Representative, Rheumatology - Bronx/Westchester

This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Responsibilities:
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts to maximize short- and long-term sales performance.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections and drive logical calls to action to close sales.
- Serve customer needs and build trusted relationships; achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency to key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical/sales expertise) with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to optimize brand strategy execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business (preferred) OR relevant/equivalent industry experience (required).
- If no bachelor’s degree: at least 5 years of relevant industry experience (3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred) and a high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven success in selling with strong presentation skills; adapts selling approach based on customer behavior; offers innovative ideas.
- Influences others; collaborative leader/role model; provides peer coaching.
- Documented leadership success with increased responsibility and ability to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: success in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal/written for non-English speaking countries).
- Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to enter assigned facilities; responsible for completing credentialing steps and associated requirements (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses).
- Demonstrated scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; strategic/critical thinking; effective in matrix environments.
- Ability to drive a personal auto or company vehicle and/or powered material handling equipment; valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
