Role Summary

This field-based Specialty Representative will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance. The role focuses on putting the patient at the center of efforts and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed defined objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and guide calls to action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years of experience within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred and a high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders. Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and quickly adapts to selling approaches; leverages findings to develop sales strategies and offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment; provides impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates changes.
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example and demonstrates positive behavior.
  • Preferred: Proven track record of sales success in the respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to facilities and organizations in the territory; maintain good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses as required; you are responsible for ensuring all requirements are satisfied.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
