Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - South Houston, TX. Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed on those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships to achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree; three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking
  • Adapts to customer style/behavior; develops sales strategies accordingly
  • Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; operates in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities
  • Influences others; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors; experience in leadership/support roles at district/region/organizational levels
  • Preferred: proven sales success in respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experiences such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing
  • English proficiency (verbal and written) if applicable
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Ability to travel to cover territory, including overnight training events and meetings
  • HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the territory
