Role Summary
Specialty Representative, Psychiatry in South Buffalo, NY. This field-based role requires residence within a reasonable distance from the primary city, with compensation aligned to experience. Responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, managing territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships to prioritize patient needs while adhering to all applicable laws and AbbVie policies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close calls effectively.
- Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to optimize strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent industry experience required
- Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree is at least five (5) years, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches; uses findings to develop sales strategies
- Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities
- Influences others and is a credible, respected resource among peers; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams
- Leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching; documented leadership experience at district/region levels
- Preferred: proven sales performance in the therapeutic area; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English language proficiency
- Essential: able to satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities within the assigned territory
- HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements
Additional Requirements
- Driving a personal auto or company vehicle, or operating a powered piece of material handling equipment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
