Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry – Seattle, WA. This field-based role executes brand strategy and tactics, manages the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and builds strong customer relationships to maximize short- and long-term sales performance. The role places the patient at the center of AbbVie’s efforts and requires adherence to AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; effectively handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that meets set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: High school diploma or GED (if no bachelor’s degree).
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field; or relevant equivalent industry experience.
  • Required: At least five years of industry experience; three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking capabilities.
  • Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; uses findings to develop sales strategies and offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; leads by example and builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
  • Preferred: English language proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Required: Satisfy all health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proofs, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements.
  • Required: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
