Role Summary

Field-based Specialty Representative in Psychiatry covering Saginaw, MI; responsible for executing brand strategy, driving sales performance, effectively managing assigned territory and targeted accounts, and building strong customer relationships. Focus on customer needs solving, placing the patient at the center of efforts, and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plans and post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on calls.
  • Aspire to serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, and disease/product/sales knowledge with in-field team, brand team, and sales management to optimize strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease-state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field or relevant and equivalent industry experience; if no bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry and a high school diploma/GED.
  • Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach accordingly.
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and respond to changes.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; capable of strategic and critical thinking; credible and respected resource among peers.
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching; track record of increased leadership responsibility at district/region levels.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success within therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English language proficiency (verbal and written).
  • Essential HCIR credentialing: must satisfy health care industry representative credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; candidate is responsible for satisfying all requirements; AbbVie provides assistance.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and meet safe driving requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required; high school diploma/GED required if applicable.
