Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Paducah West, KY. Field-based role focused on executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance while adhering to AbbVie policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and drive action on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set metrics and optimizes coverage to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously learn about customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to optimize strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Required: In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Required: Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; operates effectively in a matrix environment; provides innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Required: Influences others and is seen as a credible, respected resource; builds collaborative partnerships with district and matrix teams.
  • Required: Leads by example with positive behaviors and coaching; documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels.
  • Required: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen; able to travel and attend training events and meetings; drives personal or company vehicle.
  • Preferred: Proven track record of sales success in respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency (spoken and written).
  • Preferred: Satisfaction of HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • Required/HCIR: HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; sole responsibility to meet these requirements; AbbVie provides resources to help.

Education

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel adequately to cover territory, including overnight stays at training events and meetings.
  • Valid driver’s license; may involve driving personal or company vehicle; ability to pass drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Compliance with HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations within the assigned territory.
