Role Summary
Field-based Specialty Representative, Psychiatry covering Norwich, CT. Responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance while adhering to AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; effectively handle objections and drive calls to action.
- Proactively serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
- Required: Five (5) years of equivalent industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by relevant stakeholders; strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
- Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; uses findings to develop sales strategies; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
- Required: Provides impact with ideas for the larger organization; anticipates and responds to changes; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
- Required: Influences others and is a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team.
- Required: Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching; documented leadership experience at district/region/organizational levels.
- Preferred: Proven track record of sales success in the respective therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience such as physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Essential: HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- These HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and licenses; you are responsible for satisfying all requirements and related liabilities.
- Valid driver’s license: ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
