Role Summary
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center and operating within all applicable laws and AbbVie policies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed set goals.
- Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and drive calls to action to close sales.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes for AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that meets call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, market landscape, competitors, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize strategy.
- Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identifies and maintains disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience; if no degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
- Required: Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; develops sales strategies based on findings; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
- Required: Able to operate effectively in a matrix environment and influence others; credible and respected resource among peers; fosters collaborative partnerships.
- Required: Leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching; documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels.
- Preferred: Proven track record of sales success within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
- Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the territory; be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
- Essential: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
