Role Summary
This field-based Specialty Representative position is for Psychiatry in Florence, SC. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience and must live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The role requires executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, driving sales performance, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center and operating within AbbVie’s code of conduct and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed defined goals.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and calls to action to close on every sales call.
- Aim to serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease states, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align strategies and adapt to environmental changes.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers; identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Drive a personal auto or company vehicle or operate a powered piece of material handling equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders. Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking.
- Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and quickly adapts selling approaches; develops sales strategies and offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
- Provides impact with ideas for the organization; operates effectively in a matrix environment; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
- Leads by example; demonstrates positive behaviors and peer coaching in changing environments; documented leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels.
- Preferred: Proven track record of sales success within relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing is a plus. English language proficiency verbally and in writing for non-English speaking locales.
- Essential: Satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing and eligible to obtain credentials.
- HCIR credentialing requirements may include background checks, drug screens, proof of immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city-specific licenses. Candidate is responsible for satisfying all HCIR requirements and related liabilities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
- High school diploma/GED required (in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, five years of relevant industry experience with three years in the pharmaceutical/health/science sector preferred)
