Role Summary
Field-based Specialty Representative, Psychiatry for Downriver, MI. Responsible for executing brand strategy and tactics in the field, managing the assigned territory and targeted accounts, building strong customer relationships, and solving customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance while placing the patient at the center of efforts.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed goals.
- Create pre-call plan objectives and post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Aim to serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans that achieve metrics and optimize coverage to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, and product knowledge to align with field and brand teams.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and develop disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Operate with a valid driving capability (personal or company vehicle) as required.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field or equivalent industry experience; high school diploma/GED required if no bachelor’s degree.
- Required: Relevant and equivalent industry experience; at least five years of experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
- Required: Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
- Required: Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approaches; develop sales strategies from insights.
- Required: Ability to operate in a matrix environment and influence others; credible, respected role model; collaborative partnerships with district and matrix teams.
- Required: Leadership experience or demonstrated potential; track record of responsibility at district/region levels preferred.
- Preferred: Proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing.
- Preferred: English language proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English speaking regions.
- Essential: Satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain access to facilities; in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Essential: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and driving requirements.
