Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Columbus, GA. Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, marketing objectives, etc. to meet or exceed on those objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Aim to serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • Equivalent experience: at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen; strategic and critical thinking
  • Identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach; develops sales strategies
  • Operates effectively in a matrix environment; credible role model and resource; builds partnerships across teams
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors and coaching; documented leadership/success in increasing responsibility
  • Preferred: proven sales track record in the therapeutic area; pharmaceutical industry experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing
  • English language proficiency (verbal and written) for non-English-speaking locations
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements
