Role Summary

This field-based role requires living within a reasonable distance from the primary city. The candidate will execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, and build strong customer relationships to maximize short and long-term sales performance, with the patient at the center and in compliance with all laws, regulations, and AbbVie policies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and drive calls to action to close on every sales call.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and reach win-win agreements between AbbVie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease areas, product, clinical and sales knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent experience required
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3)+ years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Ability to identify customer styles/behavior and adapt selling approach; proven sales success and solid presentation skills
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment; innovative thinker with the ability to anticipate changes
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds partnerships with district colleagues and matrix team
  • Leads by example with positive behaviors and coaching, with prior leadership or increasing responsibility at district/region levels
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel to cover the territory, including overnight attendance at training events and sales meetings
  • Driving a personal auto or company vehicle; may involve handling equipment
  • Preferred: proven sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care or marketing; English proficiency
  • Must satisfy all HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory
  • HCIR requirements may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; individual responsibility to satisfy requirements
