Role summary:
Field-based role; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts to maximize short- and long-term sales performance while placing the patient at the center.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans and perform post-call evaluations to improve performance; handle objections and drive logical, reasonable calls to action to close.
- Build trusted customer relationships by understanding and addressing customer needs and challenges; achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency to key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, disease/product/clinical expertise) to align on brand strategy and execution.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred (or equivalent industry experience required).
- In lieu of a bachelor’s: at least 5 years industry experience (3+ years pharmaceutical/health/science preferred) and a high school diploma/GED required.
- In-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking.
- Proven sales success and strong presentation skills; ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Ability to influence, lead by example, coach peers, and collaborate across teams.
- Preferred: sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
- Essential: satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
