Responsibilities
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field to drive sales performance.
- Effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts.
- Build strong customer relationships and deliver patient-centered customer needs solutions while operating in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plan objectives; perform post-call evaluation to continuously improve performance.
- Handle objections and concerns and drive logical, reasonable calls to action to close each sales call.
- Serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency for key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence (customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, segments, accounts, disease, product/clinical/sales expertise) with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify/develop/maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred; or relevant/equivalent industry experience required.
- If no bachelor’s: at least 5 years’ experience (3+ years in pharmaceutical/health/science preferred) plus a high school diploma/GED required.
- Proven leadership success and solid presentation skills; strong business acumen; proficient use of business tools; strategic/critical thinking.
- Ability to identify customer behavior and adapt selling approach; operates effectively in a matrix environment.
- Preferred: proven sales performance success within relevant therapeutic areas.
- Preferred: commercial pharmaceutical experience (e.g., physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, marketing).
- Preferred: in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource.
- Preferred: English proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries).
- HCIR credentialing requirements: satisfy to gain/maintain entry into assigned territory facilities/organizations (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license; pass pre-employment drug screening; meet safe driving requirements.
