Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Psychiatry - Asheville, NC. Field-based role serving within a defined territory, focused on executing brand strategy and tactics, achieving sales performance, and building strong customer relationships to maximize short and long-term sales while placing the patient at the center of efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those targets.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and move calls to action to close sales.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, product, and sales, and share market intelligence with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify/maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience; high school diploma/GED with required pharmaceutical/health/science experience as alternative.
  • At least five years of relevant industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style; develops sales strategies and offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; credible, collaborative leader; experience in district/region roles preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Ability to travel to cover territory and attend training and meetings, including overnight travel.
  • Preferred: Track record of sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed care, or marketing; English proficiency.
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain/maintain entry into facilities; may include background checks, drug screens, immunizations, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses.

Education
