Role Summary

Specialty Representative, Migraine - Quincy/Peoria/Springfield/Champaign, IL. This field-based role requires residence within a reasonable distance of the primary city and will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance with patient-centric focus and compliance with all laws and AbbVie policies.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed defined objectives.
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and post-call evaluations to continually improve sales performance; effectively handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Build and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease state, product, clinical and sales knowledge with in-field and brand teams to align and optimize strategy.
  • Differentiates AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of relevant industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach; strong presentation skills and track record of sales success
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment; proactive with innovative ideas to maximize opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Prior leadership or mentorship experience preferred
  • Preferred: experience in sales within therapeutic areas; experience with physician/account-based selling, training, managed care or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written)
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements and maintain good standing to access facilities and organizations in the territory
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; comfortable driving personal or company vehicle
