This role is field-based. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Responsibilities:
- Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts.
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, and financial targets; meet or exceed marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plan objectives; conduct post-call evaluation to continuously improve sales performance.
- Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns; secure appropriate next steps to close on each sales call.
- Build trusted customer relationships by proactively serving customer needs and achieving win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute a call plan that meets call metrics and optimizes coverage/frequency to key customers.
- Build and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, and product/clinical/sales expertise.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition; identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred (or relevant/equivalent industry experience required).
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least 5 years of experience; 3+ years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- In-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and strategic/critical thinking.
- Strong sales and presentation skills; ability to operate in a matrix environment; innovative problem-solving.
- Ability to influence others; credible, collaborative, and serves as a role model.
- Preferred: success in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience with physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities in the assigned territory (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
