This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and address customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance while operating in compliance with AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.
Create pre-call objectives and execute post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance. Handle objections and concerns and consistently secure logical calls to action to close each sales call.
- Serve customer needs and build trusted relationships; pursue win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage/frequency.
- Understand customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, accounts, disease, product, and clinical/sales expertise; share intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager.
- Differentiate value proposition and identify/develop/maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business preferred; or relevant/equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s: at least 5 years of pharmaceutical/health/science experience (3+ years preferred) and a high school diploma/GED required.
- Leadership track record, solid presentation skills, strong business acumen, strategic/critical thinking; use of business tools.
- Adapt selling approach to customer style/behavior; effective in a matrix environment.
- Preferred: sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource; English proficiency verbally and in writing.
- Required: satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements for assigned territory (e.g., background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting).
- Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening; meet safe driving requirements.
