Purpose
Execute brand strategy and tactics in field sales; manage assigned territory and targeted accounts; build strong customer relationships and customer-needs solving capability to maximize short- and long-term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within AbbVie policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve performance; handle objections/concerns and drive logical calls to action to close sales.
- Proactively and continuously serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements.
- Develop and execute call plans that meet call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, and clinical/sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field team, brand team, and sales manager to align and optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers; identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health/sciences/pharmacy/business preferred; or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least 5 years of experience; 3+ years preferred in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma/GED required.
- Proactively identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approach.
- Offers innovative ideas/solutions; leverages findings to develop sales strategies.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific/therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and use of business tools; strategic and critical thinking; effective in a matrix environment.
- Influences others; credible, respected role model; collaborates with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example.
- Documented success in leadership and support roles with increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels.
- Preferred: track record of success in sales performance within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency verbally and in writing (for non-English speaking countries).
- Essential: satisfy all applicable Health Care Industry Representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain facility access; must be in good standing/eligible to obtain credentials. May include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses.
