Role Summary

Specialty Representative, GIC - Salt Lake City, UT. Execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance while aligning with AbbVie’s code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance; handle objections and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements with customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve metrics and optimize coverage and frequency with key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Gather and share market intelligence on customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, products, clinical and sales insights with in-field team, brand team, and sales management.
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers and identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent industry experience; high school diploma/GED required if applicable.
  • At least five years of industry experience if no bachelor’s degree, with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred.
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach accordingly.
  • Proven track record in selling with strong presentation skills; able to generate innovative ideas to maximize opportunities and develop sales strategies.
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; capable of strategic and critical thinking and operating in a matrix environment.
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected role model; builds collaborative partnerships across districts and matrix teams; demonstrates positive behaviors and coaching.
  • Documentation of leadership and increased responsibility at district/region/organizational levels.
  • Preferred: Proven sales success in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing; English proficiency in speaking and writing.
  • Must satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain access to facilities and organizations in the assigned territory.

Education

Additional Requirements

  • HCIR credentialing compliance to gain/maintain entry into facilities in the territory
  • Background checks, drug screening, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city-specific licenses as required
